Occasional Ravings – Don’t let the old man in

Last night I re-watched the Clint Eastwood movie ‘The Mule’. Now, I don’t buy the premise that a charming nonagenarian should be forgiven for running drugs that destroy millions of people and make the scum of the earth rich. But the film is worthwhile on many levels, including the central theme of family being more important than work and the stunning performance of Dianne Wiest and the fact that Eastwood is still working at the age of 91. However it was the song that ran over the end credits that lifted my soul, Don’t Let The Old Man In, by Toby Keith. It includes the lines ‘Ask yourself how would you be, If you didn’t know the day you were born’, which IMHO is up there with the great lyrics of all time.
